The Viking Age in a few words :)

It started in 793,when the vikings raided the island Lindisfarne (aka Holy Island). Many monks were killed and others were carried away as slaves.

All these years the Vikings even reached  Iceland,Greenland and Anatolia. It is also said that they reached North America,as there is evidence that confirms the Vinland legend.

The Viking Age ended in 1066.

It was Monday,25th of September 1066.King Harold Godwinson won against Harald Hardrada’s (Haraldr harðráði) army at Stamford Bridge. That was the last chance for the Scandinavians to take over England.

The same year, one of the most important cities of the Vikings,Haithabu(todays Schleswig in Germany) was burned down by a Slavic army.

These and many other facts show us the timeline of the Viking Age.Its start and its end…
